Dr. Joanne N. Balkaran Publishes Peer-Reviewed Research in The Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery

NewsThumb

Dr. Joanne N. Balkaran has published a peer-reviewed study examining venous thromboembolism (VTE) following foot and ankle surgery. The research evaluates postoperative VTE incidence in forefoot and rearfoot procedures and examines the role of patient-specific chemoprophylaxis in postoperative care.

The goal of this research is to provide foot and ankle surgeons with a practical, structured protocol to help guide postoperative prophylaxis decisions and support patient safety following surgery.

The study combines a retrospective review with a prospective cohort analysis conducted over a four-year period and reflects a collaborative, evidence-based approach to advancing standards of care in foot and ankle surgery.
