Red Light Therapy

Low-power photobiomodulation using specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate cellular energy production, support mitochondrial function, and accelerate tissue repair. The medicine is in the wavelength.

How Red Light Therapy Differs from MLS Laser

MLS Class IV laser uses high power to achieve deep tissue penetration, primarily targeting acute pain and inflammation with immediate therapeutic effect. Red light therapy operates at much lower power levels and works through a fundamentally different mechanism: photobiomodulation of cellular metabolism.

Where MLS laser is about power delivery to tissue, red light therapy is about triggering a biological response at the cellular level. The two therapies complement each other and are often used together in a comprehensive treatment protocol.

The Science: Mitochondria and Cellular Energy

Red and near-infrared wavelengths are absorbed by mitochondrial chromophores, particularly cytochrome c oxidase, which stimulates the production of ATP, the cell's primary energy currency. This increase in cellular energy accelerates the repair and regeneration processes that chronic injury, inflammation, and poor circulation have suppressed.

The medicine is in the accumulated energy delivered over time. Daily or frequent treatments produce a cumulative dosing effect, rebuilding cellular metabolic function in tissues that have lost their natural healing momentum.

Near Infrared Therapy

Near infrared wavelengths (700nm to 1100nm) penetrate deeper than visible red light, reaching tendons, ligaments, nerves, and joint capsules. Combined red and near infrared protocols address both superficial and deep tissue simultaneously.

Applications

  • Chronic wound healing acceleration
  • Peripheral neuropathy, reducing nerve inflammation
  • Arthritis and joint inflammation
  • Tendon and soft tissue repair
  • Post-surgical recovery and mitochondrial optimization
  • Pre-surgical body optimization
  • Peptide therapy support protocols

Treatment Protocol

Unlike MLS laser, which achieves significant results in a single session, red light therapy is a cumulative treatment. Daily or near-daily treatments are most effective, building energy delivery over time. Sessions are typically 10 to 20 minutes and require no recovery period.
